Topic: How Alternative Treatments Can Compliment Traditional Medicine in Treating and Supporting Persons with Mental Health Disorders

Dr. Elliott and Ms. Kelleher will introduce Neurofeedback Therapy, also called EEG Biofeedback, a state of the art non-invasive and drug less method for teaching the brain to function in a more balanced and healthful way. They will explain the therapy with a live demonstration.
Dr. Boisen’s specialty is integration of Western medical protocol with alternative medicine, and knowing which approach is most effective in a given clinical situation. She will speak on use of acupuncture, homeopathy, hypnotherapy, herbs and the brain’s ability to change. She will engage the audience with role playing communication and life skills.
A question and answer period will follow.
The speaker will discuss Santa Barbara County Public Defender’s Office services with specific information about how they work with criminal justice involved clients who also live with mental health disorders. They will also address concerns these clients’ families may have. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session during which the audience can get all their questions about Public Defender services addressed.
